Technology Specifications


LETOURNEAU UNIVERSITY TECHNOLOGY SPECIFICATIONS FOR STUDENTS

  • All LETU Students are required to abide by LETU Policy 6.1: Acceptable Use for Technology.
  • All LETU Students are required to use Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) to secure their LETU login. LETU strongly recommends that students have a mobile phone with the Microsoft Authenticator App installed to meet this need. LETU will provide a free keychain MFA token on request to students who do not have a mobile phone to use for MFA. Contact ServiceDesk@letu.edu or (903) 233-3500 to request a hardware token if needed.
  • Students, especially those in our online programs, are required to have adequate computing technology as a core part of their curriculum. To aid in selecting the best workstation for academic needs, we have provided a set of recommended technology specifications for student use. Please note that these requirements are frequently adjusted to compensate for the rapidly-changing technology landscape. As a result, a computer that initially meets the minimum requirements may soon fall below the guidelines. LETU recommends exceeding these requirements when possible.

MINIMUM HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Intel or AMD processor < 2 years old recommended
    (some programs may have more specific processor requirements)
  • 8 GB RAM (16GB recommended)
  • 1920x1080 display minimum
  • SSD disk storage (Min 256GB recommended)
  • Broadband Internet connection (>=10 mbps downstream and >=5 mbps upstream). While this is the minimum required, >= 25mbps downstream and >=10mbps downstream are strongly recommended . If your local internet provider does not offer acceptable speeds, satellite providers including can usually provide these speeds in most areas.
  • Windows 10+ / Mac OS 11+
  • Webcam (Logitech HD pro C920 or equivalent)

MINIMUM SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Web browser compatible with Canvas ()
  • Microsoft Office 365 ()
  • Antivirus software (Windows 10+ already has an excellent AV product (Defender) built-in)
